The Fashion Industry got a new “Fashionista” the day Patricia Corella and
Jorge Lopez gave birth to their son Jorge Lopez Corella in San Diego, CA.
From early on in his childhood, Jorge was already showing an interest for the
arts. Instead of playing with outside with the other kids, Jorge was always
inside drawing. At a young age, he decided that he was going to become an
architect. It wasn’t until he was in elementary school that Jorge showed an
interest in fashion. He remembered seeing a photo of his grandma at a
wedding and thought how beautiful she had looked in her dress. That was
the day he started to draw clothing. He kept his love for drawing clothes a
secret. "I would draw clothing and make different outfits. I would look at ads
and add my own taste to them," he recalled.
This secret interest in fashion was not just a childhood faze and it carried on
thru high school. During this time, Jorge continued his passion for the arts
and took many art courses. When senior year came around, Jorge's teacher
asked him what he wanted to major in. "Some form of design" was all he
could answer. A Representative from the Art Institute of San Diego spoke
with Jorge at a school career fair, that's when Jorge decided to major in
Graphic Design. When his younger sister found out his major she said “I always thought you would be a Fashion
designer, you have always drawn clothes.” Her words stuck with him since she was the only person he had ever
shared his sketches with, Jorge remembers. That was the boost he needed to pursue a career in the industry he
loved and had a passion for.
Jorge moved to Los Angles and enrolled in Fashion Design School. After finishing with design school Jorge worked
in retail as well as working as a freelance designer. It took him a long time to gain confidence in his skill, even
though he was getting a lot of work. With the support of his mother Jorge started his own company designing
women’s dresses, Jorge Corella Designs was established. “Jorge Corella has merged the line of classy and sexy. The
Corella woman is a fashionista with class and style. Classic cuts with modern glam, this line is wearable and
flattering.” He strives to make every woman feel amazing in one of his dresses. “I’m all about quality and
reminding the world what makes a woman a woman.” He has created numerous dresses over the past couple of
years ranging from wedding to formals to party dresses and has been able to showcase his work in boutiques and
various fashion shows.
At the end of 2007 Jorge felt he wanted to do more in the fashion industry. He had already been coordinating
fashion shows for Macy’s and other production companies as well as planning weddings. So 2008 introduced the
launch of Jorge Corella Productions. Jorge has already produced fashion shows, taught modeling classes, and
coordinated weddings for numerous couples.
At a young age, Jorge Corella has accomplished so much. Being in the fashion industry isn’t work to him because
he absolutely loves what he does. Everyday he looks forward to his next project and is excited when people
appreciate his hard work. Jorge can’t wait to see what the future has in store for him.
